FAQ – Frequently Asked questions

What is Renjer Wild Jerky?

Renjer is a jerky brand from Sweden, the first of its kind in Scandinavia. Renjer stands for thin slices of lightly spiced wild meat, hand-cut, natural, sustainable and carefully dried to ensure the best possible quality. Our aim is to make you taste the pure wilderness of the North, while providing your body with unbelievably great nutrients.

Where is Renjer’s wild meat from?

The reindeer meat comes from Arvidsjaur in Northern Sweden, where the reindeer themselves roam freely and life appropriately to their species in the Nordic wilderness. The elk and the deer meat is sourced from sustainable hunting in both Sweden and Estonia.

Where do you produce your jerky and why?

After a long search for a suitable producer for our wild jerky in Sweden, Norway and Finland in the beginning of 2017, we ultimately found a highly experienced jerky producer in Estonia who was even open to cooperate with a start-up company. Our current production partner is working with meat already since the 1980s. The production process we developed with this partner guarantees the high quality of our products that you taste in every piece of our hand-cut and tender meat delicacy.

Is your wild jerky organic?

Wild meat is close to organic, but it cannot be labelled as such. This is due to the fact that diet of the wild animals cannot be controlled, but they live freely in the nature. Additionally, wild game are not farmed animals but free grazing.

Is your jerky healthy?

Our jerky is very high in protein (up to 77%), low in fat and free of carbohydrates. Apart from the high bioavailability of the protein in wild meat, according the the University of Tromsø game meat such as reindeer even has an extraordinary high content of the necessary Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids and contains significant amounts of vitamins (e.g. B12), iron and zinc, which is a result of the natural diet of the wild animals. These nutritional values make our jerky suit various diets including low carb or low fat, but also suit LCHF. The high protein content also means that our jerky can be used as a post-workout recovery snack as well as for the quick energy on the road or during and after any kind of sport. Please note that even if our products contain 4g of salt per 100g of jerky, this is still reasonably lower than products of competitors.
A basic nutritions overview is available in the webshop. Unfortunately we cannot provide detailed information regarding vitamins and trace minerals, since testing those is too costly in our current start-up phase.

Can your jerky cause any allergies?

Our jerky, seasoning and flavours are free of common allergens, therefore our jerky should not cause you any allergies. Our jerky is naturally free of lactose and gluten.

What do I have to consider when consuming Renjer Wild Jerky?

Renjer Wild Jerky is dried meat which is ready to eat. This means no preparation is needed, just open the package and enjoy. We guarantee that our products are fresh as packaged until the expiry date. After that date we cannot guarantee that the products still have the same amazing quality. We further recommend to consume every opened package within 48 hours.

Can it happen that I receive a bad product?

We at Renjer make sure that every bag of jerky that leaves our production facility is double-checked to ensure highest product quality. However, in very unlikely individual cases it can happen that air is entering the bag, caused e.g. by an invalid handling during shipping. In case you find such a bad package (e.g. moldy meat), please do not eat the jerky, take a picture of the front and back side of the bag and send it to [email protected]. In that case we will of course send you a replacement bag free of charge.

What is the small light blue thing in the jerky bag?

It’s an oxygen absorber and should not be eaten. Therefore it’s clearly labeled with “do not eat”. By adding this small piece to the packages, we can keep our jerkies fresh with significantly less preservatives, which is good for your health. So just don’t eat it and recycle it together with the rest of the packaging!

Moreover, you can order our wild jerkies together with your fitness products from Gymgrossisten, with your books and tech from Amazon or (our favourite way) from our own webshop.
