1 bag of jerky sold = 1 tree planted in the amazon rainforest

We have partnered up with Onetreeplanted.org to make a change. Therefore during the last week of November we are celebrating the first RENJER Green Week. For every bag sold during 22.-29.11.2019 we will plant one tree in Amazon Rainforest.

Green friday is the new black friday

The Green Week will end with Green Friday that is (surprise, surprise) the same day as Black Friday this year. With Green Friday we want to remind people that everything we consume has a effect on our planet Earth. We here at RENJER are concerned that people including you and me buy many unnecessary things during campaign days like Black Friday just because products are being sold for too cheap. We also feel that especially meat products have been demonised a lot recently and it feels bad for us because we only offer the most sustainable meats there are to offer. Consumption of electronics and clothes rarely receives the same amount of publicity as consumption of meat. In the end, precious metals are being mined for our electronic devices and cotton is being picked for our T-shirts. Everything has its effect.

What happens after the Green Week?

After Green Friday has passed we will report the results of the week. The results will be published on this page, in our social media channels and in an email to our newsletter subscribers. If the campaign ends up being a success we will think about planting trees also in the future, but unfortunately to stay profitable we cannot plant trees with the same ratio to sold products forever.

WHY trees?

Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines. Ever taken an Aspirin? It comes from the bark of a tree!

Trees help cool the planet by sucking in and storing harmful greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, into their trunks, branches, and leaves, and releasing oxygen back into the atmosphere. In cities, trees can reduce overall temperature by up to eight degrees Celsius. With more than 50% of the world’s population living in cities—a number expected to increase to 66% by the year 2050—pollution and overheating are becoming a real threat. Fortunately, a mature tree can absorb an average of 22 kg of carbon dioxide per year, making cities a healthier, safer place to live.

WHY is our jerky better than others?

We manufacture our meat snacks only from wild game meat. Therefore all the meat comes exclusively from sustainable hunting. Since the animals live in their natural habitat and eat their species-appropriate natural diet, our jerky is not only sustainable but also full of valuable nutrients.

Never ever mass farmed

Our jerky does not cause depopulation of wild animals because there are strict quotas that determine the amount of animals that can be hunted every year. Also wild animals are never fed with industrial feed, soy or medicine. The price of our raw material is dependant on the demand of the animals hunted in these quotas. Therefore if the market has a higher demand from the hunters will the price of our wild meats also increase. We are happy that our governments regulate the hunting and therefore keep our reindeer, deer and elk available for future generations.

About onetreeplanted.org

As an environmental charity, Onetreeplanted.org is dedicated to making it easier for individuals and businesses to give back to the environment, create a healthier climate, protect biodiversity and help reforestation efforts around the world. All by planting trees!

Started in 2014, they have more than doubled the number of trees planted year over year. Fast-forward to today, they now work with awesome reforestations partners in North America, South America, Asia, and Africa who help them get trees in the ground to restore forests after fires and floods, create jobs, build communities, and protect habitat for biodiversity.

In 2018, Onetreeplanted was able to get more trees in the ground than ever before – 1.3 million!
